Building the Next Gen Food System
The Challenge
We have reached a critical juncture with our planetary boundaries.
The global demand for meat is rising much faster than our ability to sustainably feed the planet. As a result, humans, animals and the environment are suffering.
Our Approach
We are creating a hub across universities and disciplines to address three critical challenges in the food systems field:
The Silo Problem
Students in specific programs work in silos. They are unaware of opportunities to integrate their skills into the future food ecosystem.
The Crosstalk Problem
Students at different universities rarely have the opportunity to connect and collaborate on projects to advance food systems initiatives.

Students are not actively engaged with food systems issues, because they feel powerless when faced with intractable problems.

Attending the 2024 Food 4 Thought festival was a dream come true. My passion for food and sustainability started years ago but was limited to my personal life - until the festival, where I discovered an incredible community that understands the critical role that food plays in the wellbeing of all and is actively working on solutions.
This experience shifted my perspective, empowering me to find opportunities to get involved. As I continue to learn and connect with this trailblazing community, I am grateful for their dedication to making the world better for all.
